The idea for to revamp the Sperry shoes was inspired by their founder, Paul Sperry, who created the classics to prevent sliding on slippery boats—hence the boat shoes! According to Wedhammer, the brand “wanted to pay homage to his ingenuity and create a shoe he would have created if he had the chance.”
